08.24.2025 The first of many. Four simple words. amyvandermark, August 24, 2025August 24, 2025 The power of four simple words. It appears that I might have a follow through issue with certain tasks. Beginning my blog seems to be one of such tasks. I’m grateful for four simple words. As I sat down with someone over pastries and refreshments this morning, my choice is always fruit and coffee, we discussed an opportunity to set boundaries and give clear communication. During the encounter, I found myself, like many times, saying, “I believe in you.”Not only do I believe in this person to set boundaries and give clear communication, I believe in encouraging others with those four simple words, “I believe in you.”As I sat a few moments later, and the people at the table played musical chairs, the next conversationalist then gave me clear communication that they in fact, believed in me. “I believe in you,” they said, as assuredly as I had.It felt like I had been hit in the face with a full bucket of cold water. Not a splash, not an easy to wipe away amount which would dry in due time, this was a wave of cold sobering wake up that maybe, just maybe, I should practice what I preach a little more. The individual shared this after I described that I was intending, well, have been intending, on beginning a blog about the many things that I do, similar to a journal.“I believe in you,” they said. How fun it is to be encouraged. Four simple words made all the difference in my world. Four simple words helped a 5 years goal, a seemingly slippery goal, become a reality in only a few short hours. This conversation happened less than two hours prior to this moment that my neon orange coffin shape nails tap away on a laptop keyboard from within the local library.“Thank you for the encouragement,” I managed to say enthusiastically, though I knew of the work load I was agreeing to. “This is why I don’t share,” I thought, realizing that I had just assigned myself a task, and others, now, not only knew about it, but in being thoughtful human beings, were going to follow up with me and see how my progress would . . . well, progress. So, here I sit, across from a dear friend, tapping away on a keyboard. Probably disturbing some of the library patrons, as my new favorite nail shape comes in contact with the keys of the letters to write this post. The neon orange brings me joy.To things that bring us joy.
